Haruka first appears in the first episode of the S series and almost immediatly after the R series in the manga. Haruka is VERY passionate about her mission, which is stopping Silence from spreading over the world, but not too passionate ot forget about Michiru, her lover. Michiru and Haruka are almost inseperable and they care deeply for eachother, deeper that Usagi and Mamoru (at least in my opinion). They are very grown up and almost seem like they are living in the wrong bodies for their attitude, like they belong in a 35 year old's body (SEPERATE BODIES YOU SICKOS!). Haruka is very protective over Usagi because she knows Usagi can care too much. Haruka tries to not let emotions overcome her, but she knows, deep down she knows it's futile. Haruka may seem very fond of Usagi, but the truth is, she is fond of Usagi in a way that a father is fond of his daughter, or an ex-boyfriend is fond of an ex-girlfriend, or how Artemis is fond of Minako-chan. What it comes down to is that Haruka is just very protective oiver Usagi, and sometimes Michiru, because she knows when it comes down to crunch time, they may back down.
Haruka is an Aquarius, which means that they do as they please, regardless of what others think. At first, someone might think this about her homosexuality, but it's really about her mission. Haruka DOES NOT care what anyone thinks of her, even after Haruka has sacrificed someone for the sake of someone else. Aquarians do a lot of work and never stop until it is done. They are very athletic, which sometimes masks their intelligence, and Aquarians DO NOT like help from others, even if they know they are hurt. Though Aquarians don't make friends easily, the friends they do make they are very protective and loyal to.
In mythology Uranus was represented by the starry sky. He had control of the wind and sky and him and Gaea (Earth) were lovers and gave birth to the Titans.
