WARNING!!! SPOILERS!!!!!
NOTE:Many people believe that Chibi-Chibi is Chibi-Usa's future daughter, but, in fact, she is Sailor Cosmos's future form, and Sailor Cosmos is Sailor Moon's Future form! Sailor Cosmos lost a battle against Chaos, so she decided to go back in time and help Sailor Moon beat Chaos, but on the way, her form got distorted and she was stuck as Chibi-Chibi. Sailor Cosmos is the true form of ChibiChibi. She appeared briefly in the anime, but all you saw was her sillohette, handing Usagi a sword with which to defeat the evil Sailor Chaos.That is the only scene of Cosmos in the Anime. In the Manga, Chibi-Chibi appears much like she does in the anime, only she's not quite as annoying. She turns into Sailor Chibi-Chibi as well, but she can talk and transform by herself, just like a normal Sailor Senshi (only a bit shorter). She's rather mysterious, and it is not until the final battle that we learn her origin. In the Manga, Chibi-Chibi is Sailor Moon's future FUTURE self, Sailor Cosmos. At the final battle at Saggitarius Zero, Eternal Sailor Moon threw herself into Caulderon, the mystical river of birth and rejuvination, to purify it of Chaos, the evil force akin to the Dark Kingdom, the Death Phantom (Black Moon), Pharoah 90, and Nehelenia. But Chaos explained that as long as light existed, darkness would always be drawn to it. Peace was established at first, but Chaos returned again in the future, and Sailor Cosmos, dismayed at all the destruction it caused in the future, fled back to the past to make Eternal Sailor Moon destroy Caulderon altogether, thereby illiminating any possible threat. She takes the form of Chibi-Chibi to do so. But what Eternal Sailor Moon helped Sailor Cosmos realize was that the stream of life represented the birth of new hopes along with the evils, too. And if you believed in that hope, you could always conquer the bad. Sailor Cosmos knew that she could no longer fear that threat with all the love and hope Eternal Sailor Moon gave her, and faced her destiny as the true Sailor Cosmos, with confidence and bravery.
Holes in the theory:
1) When the Asteroid Senshi asked if Sailor Cosmos was the ultimate form of Sailor Moon, she replied, "I am only a coward." She never actually admitted to being the ultimate form of Sailor Moon.
2) It was said in Sailor Moon R that Neo Queen Serenity gave up her powers as a Sailor Senshi when she became Queen. That's why Sailor Chibi-Moon was born; to take the place of the original Sailor Moon. How, then, did she regain them to become Sailor Cosmos? And how come Sailor Chibi-Moon still existed?
3) Sailor Moon has never changed the shape of her odangos (buns) before throughout her Senshi promotions. She didn't even change them when she was reincarnated! Why did she start now?
4) If Sailor Cosmos was "no match for the final courage and strength of Eternal Sailor Moon", how is Sailor Cosmos a better form of Sailor Moon?
5) Whenever she changed forms before, she always kept the "Moon" part of her name. Why a sudden change to "Cosmos"?
AMERICAN MANGA TRANSLATION
In the Manga, Cosmos had a greater part than this. In the future, when Galaxia had
practially taken over the entire universe, she lastly came to the Sol system, the
system of Earth, to conquer. But instead of fighting, during the entire Sailor War
Sailor Cosmos cowardly allowed Galaxia's reputation to intimidate her. Sailor Galaxia
killed all the senshi and got all their starseeds, except for Cosmos, who found she
could do nothing but continue to flee, for Shadow Galactica was too strong by then,
for if she turned to fight she would surely die.
Sailor Cosmos came up with a plan though: She could go back in time, and guide
Sailor Moon on the proper path to defeat Galaxia. As Chibi Chibi, she cheered Usagi
up when she was depressed,Galaxia having killed all her guardians, the Inner
Senshi.As Sailor Chibi Chibi Moon, she protected her and prevented Eternal Sailor
Moon from stupid acts, like, say, charging headlong into the arms of Evil Tuxedo
Kamen(he,the inner and outersenshi, where all turned to evil by Galaxia's
bracelets~Vol 18). As ChibiChibi Moon, she guided Eternal Sailor Moon to the
Galaxy cauldron, where Sailor Moon used to power of her Silver Crystal to summon
all the stolen crystals out of the cauldron, and attack Chaos. After that, they left to
their respective systems to be planets and senshi again, but Sailor Moon's crystal
remained, and went into the cauldron.
The Sailor Quartet,aka Asteroid Senshi, had been previously knocked out by the Evil
Senshi attacks of Mercury and Mars. When Eternal Sailor Moon summoned the
Sailor Crystals, she summoned the Quartet's too, awaking them from their stupor.
They rushed to the Cauldron in time to see Eternal Sailor Moon vanish in a flurry of
lights and feathers.Needless to say, they were horrified till Sailor Cosmos appeared to
reassure them of Sailor Moon's rebirth, as well as the rebirth, as all the senshi. Sailor
Ceres saw Cosmos for the first time, with her heart shaped odango, and cried "Chibi
Chibi?!" in surprised recognition. After Cosmos introduced herself, Ceres asked" Are
you the future? Sailor Moon's Ultimate form?"
"I am only a coward," answered Cosmos, turning her head, ashamed"I abandoned
everything, and ran away from where I should have been. Eternally, I am no match for
the final courage and strength of Eternal Sailor Moon."
The word 'Final' only served to worry the Asteroid Senshi more, and Cosmos
reassured them again,"Do not worry," she said. "Your princess, the same as the other
soldiers, was reborn by that Lambda Power. Someday, in that flow of lights, she will
arrive safely back in the 30th century. This is the Galaxy Cauldron. Where the
galaxy's stars are born, and where they finally return. To engage the source of all the
enemies who inhabited here, Chaos, Eternal Sailor Moon melted along with Chaos
into the Cauldron's sea of origin. Not the power of Eternal Sailor Moon, but the
Cauldron, and the galaxy, were able to return everyone. But in the end, they could
not completely eliminate Chaos."
"From an overwhelming future, where I lost the war to Sailor Chaos, I gave up
everything and ran away. Repeated massacres, a long, painful war... The enemy that
appeared, the strong, enormous Sailor Chaos... With the way of fighting we had
used, we didn't stand a chance. Even if we defeated it, even if we returned the peace
of before, the damage taken, the price we paid, would be too much. Too far-reaching.
We couldn't do it. I don't know anymore, why there are wars. What is right. What
should I do? When I'm lost, when I'm hurt, I remember. The war here. Back then at the
Cauldron. If I had eliminated it, would the pain, would the war have ended? After
regretting it so many times, I came here. To make it right this time." [[There's a
flashback of ChibiChibi, floating down on her umbrella]] "The me of here(ChibiChibi),
too, was all alone. Always suffering. So I was always by her side, to support her. I
was going to make her choose the right path this time.... But I knew. The chosen path
was not a mistake. Nobody can destroy the place where stars are born(the Galaxy
Cauldron). Because of this place, we can continue living. Time and time again, we can
start over. I won't run away anymore. I'll go ahead to the future. Because I was
blessed with great power by Eternal Sailor Moon. All the courage and strength to
stand alone, the courage and strength to accept everything! I had forgotten it. The
matchless strength!"
Sailor Cosmos sent the Sailor Quartet back to the future, to guard Chibi Usa in the
30th century. Standing there as they faded away, she had a small smile on her lips, for
she knew that this time the future would turn out right.
ACTUAL JAPANESE TRANSLATION
The last Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon manga is a bit long, so I've cut it down to the good stuff.
What's happened so far: All of the inner and outer senshi have been killed by either Galaxia or her
minions. All that remain are Eternal Sailor Moon, Sailor Chibi-Chibi, and Sailor Galaxia. They stand
at the edge of a big tunnel of light, the Caulderon. A mysterious beam of light shot out from
Caulderon, causing Galaxia to fall off the edge and into the Caulderon. But Eternal Sailor Moon
caught her hand and pulled her back up. Eternal Sailor Moon refuses to let Galaxia die, and Chaos
surrounds them both ominously, and revealed that all of the previous enemies Sailor Moon had
fought (Queen Metellia, Death Phantom, Pharaoh 90, Queen Nehelenia) all were dark stars born
from the Caulderon, as well.
Your coming here was destiny," says Chaos. "Where there is light, there is darkness. The darkness
calls to the light, and the light calls again to the darkness. Our destiny matches. As before, when
everything was one here, the time has now come again for light and darkness to join hands! Soldier
of the galaxy's strongest light, Sailor Moon! Give me your power now! At last, my long-awaited
wish has come, for me to rule all the universe instead of this Cauldron!"
Galaxia wakes up. She looks at Usagi.
"Why did you save me?"
"Galaxia!" says Usagi.
"Finish me off! Chaos paid me no mind from the start. I can't win over such a huge existence after all. My planet wasn't here,
either."
"I gave you my hand because inside you, I saw the loneliness of myself. I don't want to lose any more friends."
"I am an enemy!" says Galaxia. "This is war!"
"I can't fight anymore," says Usagi. "Everyone is gone. All this time, it wasn't for peace and justice. I only fought for the ones I
love, and my friends. But now they're all gone. If I don't have my most precious ones... For who, for what should I fight?"
"Heh..." says Galaxia. "Both you and I can't fight. If the last sailor soldier is no more... Will now be the end of war?"
"The end of war..."
"Ohh..." says Chaos as power surrounds them.
"The thing I've been praying for," thinks Usagi. "In this form..."
"No," says Chibi-Chibi. "The wars will not end. They will always continue. But you can end this war, the one now. To save the
galaxy's future. Sailor Moon, with your last power, eliminate the source of all the enemies, Chaos and the Cauldron, and end
the war!"
"Chaos, and the Cauldron!? Chibi-Chibi?"
"Chaos is now completely one with the Cauldron. To completely eliminate Chaos, there is no choice but to destroy the
Cauldron."
"But if the Cauldron is gone, no more stars can be born! Someday the galaxy's future will be no more!"
"But if you don't do that," Chibi-Chibi says, "this war and the history of suffering will continue forever! It will all be on your
shoulders, Sailor Moon. You will regret this, Sailor Moon!"
"Chibi-Chibi...?"
Usagi looks at her.
"As long as stars can continue to be born, war will not end," Usagi says. "The darkness calls to the light, and the light calls again
to the darkness. Is this the will of the galaxy? Saying I will end the war... Will that be the end of everything? And that glaive of
death, this time must I be the one to bring it down?"
"But you have no choice," says Chibi-Chibi. "There is no alternative. To bring peace to the galaxy, there is nothing else..."
"But even if this galaxy is destroyed," says Galaxia, "somewhere a new Cauldron will surely be born again. Somewhere a new
future will begin, and light and darkness may be born again. The end of war will not come so easily. A new future... Amazing,
that those words are still inside me."
"Yes," says Usagi. "Yes. New futures will always continue to be created. And there, light and darkness, war and hope, life and
death, joy and pain, will all exist again. Everything, that is this universe."
"Sailor Moon...!" thinks Galaxia. "You believe in such a distant future for this universe? Sailor Moon, are you the soldier that
draws in everything? Sailor Moon... I've finally found it. My planet..."
She reaches out toward Usagi.
The bracelets on her wrists crack.
She drops to her knees.
"Too big... Too radiant... My arms don't reach..."
"Galaxia!?"
"But that planet will continue to shine in this universe eternally..."
The bracelets shatter.
Galaxia is no more.
"Galaxia!?" Usagi cries.
All that remains is the golden brooch she wore.
Usagi holds it in her hands as tears fall from her eyes.
"Chibi-Chibi," she says. "I won't give up. Everyone always told me... At the end of war there is hope and future. I will make our
future. So don't you abandon hope and the future, either. Believe. Our star of hope will never disappear. As long as it keeps
shining, we will be all right. We won't be defeated."
"Right," says Chibi-Chibi.
Light glows around her.
She transforms, becoming older. She floats up in her glowing adult body, and kisses Usagi.
A spark of light shines on her forehead.
"Chibi-Chibi?"
Their hands touch.
"I see..." Usagi thinks. "We won't lose. Because we are sailor soldiers."
Energy storms around them.
"Sailor Moon!" calls Chaos. "The mother Cauldron is your grave! This is the birth of the universe's strongest star, Chaos!"
Usagi leaps into the air.
"Chaos. Queen Metallia. Death Phantom. Pharaoh 90. Nephrenia. And Galaxia. I know now, why you were seeking my
power. It is the same as the feeling that I seek for the ones I love, and my friends. We are all stars alone. We meet our desire,
wanting to be as one. As one. That is how we begin. And now, I, too, will seek you. I will envelop you. Inside this Cauldron, to
save everything."
"Ohhhh!!"
Usagi descends into the Cauldron.
"Save everything... Whether or not I can do it... I don't know... But..."
"We're always with you," say the sailor soldiers.
"Fight without hesitation," says Mamoru.
"There is always hope and rebirth," says Saturn.
"The sailor crystals are our hope," says Kakyuu.
Usagi enters Chaos.
"Our hope."
Her suit peels into feathers blowing away as she flows through the light.
"Sailor soldiers sleeping inside the Cauldron. Sailor crystals. And my many friends across the galaxy. Please. Please give me
strength!"
The Sailor Quartet awaken outside Galaxia's palace at Saggitarius Zero.
The crystals in their chests glow.
"Calling... Is this power Sailor Moon!? Requesting our strength... Sailor Moon!"
They run inside, to the Cauldron.
"Ohhhh," says Chaos.
A glowing light rises out of the Cauldron.
The Quartet's crystals fly to the light.
A winged figure is bathed in power.
"Sailor Moon!?"
"Silver Moon Crystal Power!!" she calls. "Eternal Power!!"
The sailor crystals shoot out in all directions at Chaos.
"Ohhh! Are you trying to break me apart!? Stop!! Ohhhh!"
Chaos screams as the crystals envelop it.
"I feel all their power..." Usagi thinks. "Throughout my body... Now I can rescue them... From inside here..."
Her body melts away as she drops into the Cauldron.
"Sailor Moon!?" the Quartet cry.
Lights burst into the air.
"Wow!" says Pallas. "This flood of lights!? What on earth!?"
"The sailor crystals of the sailor soldiers scattered in the Cauldron," says a figure, "are returning to their original forms, and going
back to their own planets."
They see the woman's face.
"Chibi-Chibi?"
"They are all still just starseeds born from the Cauldron, but as they reach their respective planets, they will grow, and return to
their forms of before."
"It can't be," says Ceres. "This... Sailor Moon sacrificed herself, with the power of the Silver Moon Crystal!?"
"No," says the woman. "This power of rebirth is the realization of the power of all the galaxy's sailor crystals as one. This is the
Cosmos Crystal's, making everything into the static Cosmos, the ultimate Lambda Power."
"Cosmos Crystal!? Lambda Power!? Who are you...?"
The woman in a sailor suit and cape, two long ponytails flowing over her shoulders, a light sparkling on her forehead, stands
before them.
"I am Sailor Cosmos."
"Sailor Cosmos!?" says Ceres. "It can't be... It can't be... Are you the future... The future Sailor Moon's ultimate form!?"
"I am only a coward," the woman says. "I abandoned everything, and ran away from where I should have been. Eternally, I am
no match for the final courage and strength of Eternal Sailor Moon."
"Final courage!? Then, is Sailor Moon-!? She can't be..."
"Sailor Cosmos! Our princess...!" (they refer to Chibi Usa as she is their Princess Small Lady Selenity)
"Do not worry," she says. "Your princess, the same as the other soldiers, was reborn by that Lambda Power. Someday, in that

floating in an umbrella - to be with Usagi - both were lonely) I was going to make her choose the right path this time....(this time
meaning she wants her past self to make the right choice this time) But I knew. The chosen path was not a mistake. Nobody
can destroy the place where stars are born. Because of this place, we can continue living. Time and time again, we can start
over. I won't run away anymore. I'll go ahead to the future. Because I was blessed with great power by Eternal Sailor Moon.
All the courage and strength to stand alone, the courage and strength to accept everything! I had forgotten it. The matchless
strength!" (She finally remembers the way she was and with that renewed courage she gained from her self of old - it will make
her herself again) "Sailor Cosmos..."
"Now Eternal Sailor Moon, who saved the galaxy, is the true Sailor Cosmos. When, like Eternal Sailor Moon, I can have the
courage to stand alone, and the courage to accept everything, at that time I can be the true Sailor Cosmos. Now, you shall
return as well! To the place where you must return, to the person you must protect!"
She raises her scepter, and the Sailor Quartet are transformed into lights, joining the others
Alone, she watches as they go.
